Joshua 2

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

And Joshua the son of Nun sent from Shittim two men (ish) as spies secretly, saying: "Go, see the land, and Jericho." And they went, and came into the house of a woman (ishah), a harlot, and her name was Rahab, and they lay there.

And it was said to the king of Jericho, saying: "Behold, men (ish) have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the land."

And the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying: "Bring out the men (ish) who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the land."

And the woman (ishah) took the two men (ish) and hid them, and she said: "Yes, the men (ish) came to me, but I did not know from where they were;

and it came to pass, as the gate was to be shut, in the darkness, that the men (ish) went out; I do not know where the men (ish) went; pursue quickly after them, for you will overtake them."

But she had brought them up to the roof, and hid them among the stalks of flax which she had arranged for herself on the roof.

And the men (ish) pursued after them the way to the Jordan, to the fords; and the gate was shut after the pursuers had gone out after them.

And before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof,

and she said to the men (ish): "I know that YHWH has given you the land, and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.

For we have heard how YHWH dried up the water of the Sea of Reeds before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed.

And we heard, and our heart melted, and no spirit (ruach) remained any more in any man (ish) because of you; for YHWH your God, He is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.

And now, swear to me, please, by YHWH, since I have done kindness with you, that you also will do kindness with my father's house, and you shall give me a true sign (ot),

and you shall keep alive my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and you shall deliver our souls (nephesh) from death."

And the men (ish) said to her: "Our soul (nephesh) for yours, to die, if you do not tell this our matter; and it shall be, when YHWH gives us the land, that we will deal with you in kindness and truth."

Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was in the wall of the city wall, and within the city wall she dwelt.

And she said to them: "Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers return, and afterward you may go on your way."

And the men (ish) said to her: "We will be guiltless of this your oath which you have made us swear.

Behold, when we come into the land, you shall bind this cord of scarlet thread in the window by which you let us down, and your father, and your mother, and your brothers, and all your father's house you shall gather to yourself into the house.

And it shall be, anyone who goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his head, and we will be guiltless; but anyone who shall be with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if a hand is on him.

But if you tell this our matter, then we shall be guiltless of your oath which you have made us swear."

And she said: "According to your words, so be it." And she sent them away, and they went; and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

And they went, and came to the mountain, and dwelt there three days, until the pursuers returned; and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but did not find them.

And the two men (ish) returned, and came down from the mountain, and crossed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and they recounted to him all that had befallen them.

And they said to Joshua: "Truly YHWH has given into our hand all the land; and moreover all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us."
