Joshua 3

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

And Joshua rose early in the morning, and they set out from Shittim, and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel; and they lodged there before they crossed over.

And it came to pass at the end of three days, that the officers passed through the midst of the camp;

and they commanded (tzivvah) the people, saying: "When you see the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then you shall set out from your place, and go after it.

Yet there shall be a distance between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure; do not come near to it, that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not crossed over by this way before now."

And Joshua said to the people: "Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow YHWH will do wonders among you."

And Joshua spoke to the priests, saying: "Take up the ark of the covenant (berit), and pass over before the people." And they took up the ark of the covenant (berit), and went before the people.

And YHWH said to Joshua: "This day I will begin to magnify you in the eyes of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, I will be with you.

And you shall command (tzivvah) the priests who bear the ark of the covenant (berit), saying: When you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan."

And Joshua said to the children of Israel: "Come here, and hear the words of YHWH your God."

And Joshua said: "By this you shall know that a living (chai) God is in your midst, and that He will surely drive out from before you the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite.

Behold, the ark of the covenant (berit) of the Lord of all the earth passes over before you into the Jordan.

And now, take for yourselves twelve men (ish) from the tribes of Israel, one man (ish), one man (ish) for each tribe.

And it shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of YHWH, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand in one heap."

And it came to pass, when the people set out from their tents to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant (berit) before the people;

and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark were dipped in the edge of the water — and the Jordan is full over all its banks all the days of harvest —

that the waters which came down from above stood, they rose up in one heap, very far off, from Adam, the city which is beside Zarethan; and those going down toward the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

And the priests who bore the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, prepared, while all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the nation had finished crossing over the Jordan.
