And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying:
"Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: A soul (nephesh), when it sins through error from any of the commandments (mitzvot) of YHWH which shall not be done, and does one of them—
if the anointed priest sins for the guilt of the people, then he shall bring near for his sin which he sinned a bull, a son of the herd, without blemish, to YHWH for a sin offering.
And he shall bring the bull to the opening of the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed) before YHWH, and he shall lay his hand upon the head of the bull, and slaughter the bull before YHWH.
And the anointed priest shall take from the blood of the bull, and bring it to the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed).
And the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle from the blood seven times before YHWH, before the face of the veil of the holy place.
And the priest shall put from the blood upon the horns of the altar of the incense of spices before YHWH, which is in the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed); and all the blood of the bull he shall pour out at the base of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the opening of the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed).
And all the fat of the bull of the sin offering he shall lift up from it: the fat that covers the entrails, and all the fat that is upon the entrails,
and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is upon the loins, and the lobe upon the liver, by the kidneys he shall remove it,
as it is lifted up from the ox of the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall make them smoke upon the altar of the burnt offering.
And the skin of the bull, and all its flesh (basar), with its head, and with its legs, and its entrails, and its dung,
even the whole bull he shall bring out to the outside of the camp, to a clean place, to the place of the pouring out of the ashes, and burn him upon wood with fire; upon the pouring out of the ashes he shall be burned.
And if the whole congregation of Israel errs, and the matter is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they do one from any of the commandments (mitzvot) of YHWH which shall not be done, and become guilty;
when the sin which they sinned concerning it becomes known, then the assembly shall bring near a bull, a son of the herd, for a sin offering, and bring him before the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed).
And the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bull before YHWH, and he shall slaughter the bull before YHWH.
And the anointed priest shall bring from the blood of the bull to the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed).
And the priest shall dip his finger from the blood, and sprinkle seven times before YHWH, before the face of the veil.
And from the blood he shall put upon the horns of the altar which is before YHWH, which is in the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed); and all the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the opening of the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed).
And all its fat he shall lift up from it, and make it smoke upon the altar.
And he shall do to the bull as he did to the bull of the sin offering, so shall he do to him; and the priest shall make atonement for them, and it shall be forgiven to them.
And he shall bring out the bull to the outside of the camp, and burn it as he burned the first bull; it is the sin offering of the assembly.
When a leader sins, and does one from all the commandments (mitzvot) of YHWH his God which shall not be done, through error, and becomes guilty;
or his sin which he sinned in it is made known to him, then he shall bring his offering, a male goat of the goats, a male without blemish.
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and slaughter him in the place where he slaughters the burnt offering before YHWH; it is a sin offering.
And the priest shall take from the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of the burnt offering, and its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of the burnt offering.
And all its fat he shall make smoke upon the altar, like the fat of the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall make atonement for him from his sin, and it shall be forgiven to him.
And if one soul (nephesh) sins through error from the people of the land, in its doing one from the commandments (mitzvot) of YHWH which shall not be done, and becomes guilty;
or his sin which he sinned is made known to him, then he shall bring his offering, a female goat of the goats, without blemish, a female, for his sin which he sinned.
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slaughter the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering.
And the priest shall take from its blood with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of the burnt offering, and all its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar.
And all its fat he shall remove, as the fat is removed from upon the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall make it smoke upon the altar for a soothing aroma to YHWH; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven to him.
And if he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, a female without blemish he shall bring it.
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slaughter her for a sin offering in the place where he slaughters the burnt offering.
And the priest shall take from the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of the burnt offering, and all its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar.
And all its fat he shall remove, as the fat of the lamb is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall make them smoke upon the altar, upon the fire offerings of YHWH; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin which he sinned, and it shall be forgiven to him.
