Calling the twelve together, He gave them dynamis(power) and exousia(authority) over all the daimonion(individual evil spirits to be expelled) and to heal diseases.
And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
He said to them, "Take nothing for the road — no staff, no bag, no bread, no money; and do not have two tunics each.
And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart.
And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that city, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them."
And departing they went through village after village, preaching the good news and healing everywhere.
Now Herod the tetrarch heard all that was happening, and he was perplexed because it was said by some that John had been raised from the dead,
by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the ancient prophets had risen.
Herod said, "John I beheaded, but who is this about whom I hear such things?" And he kept seeking to see Him.
When the apostles returned they told Him everything they had done, and taking them with Him He withdrew privately to a city called Bethsaida.
But the crowds, having learned of it, followed Him, and He welcomed them and was speaking to them about the kingdom of God and healing those who had need of healing.
Now the day was drawing to an end; the twelve came and said to Him, "Send the crowd away so that they may go into the villages and countryside around here and find lodging and food, for we are here in a desolate place."
But He said to them, "You give them something to eat." They said, "We have no more than five loaves and two fish — unless we go and buy food for all these people."
For there were about five thousand men; He said to His disciples, "Have them recline in groups of about fifty each."
They did so and had them all recline.
Taking the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven and blessed them and broke them and was giving them to the disciples to set before the crowd.
And they all ate and were satisfied, and what remained over was picked up — twelve baskets of broken pieces.
And it came about that while He was praying alone, the disciples were with Him, and He questioned them, saying, "Who do the crowds say that I am?"
They answered and said, "John the Baptist; but others say Elijah; and others, that one of the ancient prophets has risen."
He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said, "The Messiah(Christ) of God."
But He, rebuking them, ordered them to tell this to no one,
saying that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes and be killed, and on the third day be raised.
And He was saying to all, "If anyone wants to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his stauros(cross) daily and follow Me.
For whoever would preserve his psyche(soul) — the one who refuses to crucify it — will lose it; but whoever loses his psyche(soul) — crucifies it — for My sake will save it (receive-Yeshua(Jesus)).
For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My logos(words), of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
But I tell you truthfully, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God."
And it came about some eight days after these logos(words) that He took Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
And as He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming.
And behold, two men were talking with Him — Moses and Elijah —
who, appearing in glory, spoke of His departure, which He was about to fulfill at Jerusalem.
Now Peter and those who were with him were weighed down with sleep; when they became fully awake they saw His glory and the two men standing with Him.
And as they were parting from Him, Peter said to Yeshua(Jesus), "Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three shelters, one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah" — not knowing what he was saying.
While he was saying these things a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.
And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My Son, My Chosen One — listen to Him!"
And when the voice had spoken, Yeshua(Jesus) was found alone; and they kept silent and reported to no one in those days anything of what they had seen.
On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a large crowd met Him.
And behold, a man from the crowd cried out, saying, "Teacher, I beg You to look at my son, for he is my only child,
and behold, a pneuma(spirit) seizes him, and he suddenly cries out, and it convulses him with foaming, and only with difficulty does it depart from him, bruising him.
And I begged Your disciples to cast it out, but they could not."
Yeshua(Jesus) answered and said, "O unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here."
Even while the boy was coming, the daimonion(individual evil spirit to be expelled) threw him down and convulsed him; but Yeshua(Jesus) rebuked the akathartos(unclean) pneuma(spirit) and healed the boy and gave him back to his father.
And they were all astonished at the greatness of God; but while everyone was marveling at all that He was doing, He said to His disciples,
"Let these logos(words) sink into your ears: the Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men."
But they did not understand this rhema(spoken-word) and it was concealed from them so that they would not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask Him about this rhema(spoken-word).
Now a dialogismos(reasoning) arose among them as to which of them might be the greatest.
But Yeshua(Jesus), knowing the dialogismos(reasoning) of their kardia(heart, soul-domain), took a child and placed him by His side,
and said to them, "Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives the One who sent Me; for the one who is least among all of you is the one who is great."
John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out daimonion(individual evil spirits to be expelled) in Your name, and we tried to stop him because he does not follow with us."
Yeshua(Jesus) said to him, "Do not stop him, for the one who is not against us is for us."
When the days for His ascension were being completed, He resolutely set His face to go to Jerusalem,
and sent messengers ahead of Him; and they went and entered a village of the Samaritans to prepare for Him.
But they did not receive Him, because His face was set toward Jerusalem.
When His disciples James and John saw this they said, "Lord, do You want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them, as Elijah also did?"
But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what kind of pneuma(spirit) you are of.
For the Son of Man did not come to destroy people's psyche(souls) but to save them." And they went on to another village.
As they were going along the road, someone said to Him, "I will follow You wherever You go, Lord."
Yeshua(Jesus) said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the heaven have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."
He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father."
Yeshua(Jesus) said to him, "Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God."
Another also said, "I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say goodbye to those at my home."
Yeshua(Jesus) said to him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."
