1And now, to you is this commandment (mitzvah), O priests.
2If you will not hear, and if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, says YHWH of hosts (tzevaot), then I will send upon you the curse, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I have cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.
3Behold, I rebuke the seed for you, and I will scatter dung upon your faces, the dung of your feasts (chag); and one shall carry you away to it.
4And you shall know that I have sent to you this commandment (mitzvah), that my covenant (berit) might be with Levi, says YHWH of hosts (tzevaot).
5My covenant (berit) was with him, of life (chai) and peace, and I gave them to him as fear, and he feared me, and before my name he stood in awe.
6The Torah of truth was in his mouth, and injustice was not found in his lips; in peace and in uprightness he walked with me, and he turned many back from iniquity.
7For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, and they should seek Torah from his mouth; for he is the messenger of YHWH of hosts (tzevaot).
8But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble in the Torah; you have corrupted the covenant (berit) of Levi, says YHWH of hosts (tzevaot).
9And I also have made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as you do not keep my ways, but lift up faces in the Torah.
10Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously, a man (ish) against his brother, to profane the covenant (berit) of our fathers?
11Judah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination is done in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the holiness of YHWH which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.
12May YHWH cut off, for the man (ish) who does this, him that is awake and him that answers, from the tents of Jacob, and him that offers an offering to YHWH of hosts (tzevaot).
13And this second thing you do: covering the altar of YHWH with tears, with weeping and groaning, so that there is no more regarding the offering, nor taking it with favor from your hand.
14And you say, "On what account?" Because YHWH has witnessed between you and the wife (ishah) of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion and the wife (ishah) of your covenant (berit).
15And did not one make them? And a remnant of spirit (ruach) was his. And what did the one seek? a seed of God. Therefore take heed to your spirit (ruach), and let none deal treacherously against the wife (ishah) of his youth.
16For he hates sending away, says YHWH the God of Israel; and one covers violence upon his garment, says YHWH of hosts (tzevaot); therefore take heed to your spirit (ruach), that you deal not treacherously.
17You have wearied YHWH with your words, and you say, "In what have we wearied?" In your saying, "Everyone who does evil is good in the eyes of YHWH, and in them he delights"; or, "Where is the God of judgment (mishpat)?"
