1Woe to those who devise iniquity and work evil upon their beds! In the light of the morning they do it, because it is in the power of their hand.
2And they covet fields and seize them, and houses and take them away; and they oppress a man and his house, even a man (ish) and his inheritance.
3Therefore thus says YHWH: Behold, I am devising against this family an evil, from which you shall not remove your necks, neither shall you walk haughtily; for it is an evil time.
4In that day one shall take up a parable against you, and wail a doleful wailing, saying: "We are utterly ruined; the portion of my people he exchanges; how he removes it from me! To a backslider he apportions our fields."
5Therefore you shall have no one casting the line by lot in the congregation of YHWH.
6"Do not preach," they preach; they shall not preach of these things; reproaches shall not overtake.
7Should it be said, O house of Jacob, "Is the spirit (ruach) of YHWH shortened? Are these his doings?" Do not my words do good to him who walks uprightly?
8And yesterday my people rose up as an enemy; from off the garment you strip the mantle, from those passing by securely, returned from war.
9The women (ishah) of my people you cast out from her pleasant house; from her children you take away my splendor forever.
10Arise and depart, for this is not the resting place; because of uncleanness it shall destroy, even with a grievous destruction.
11If a man (ish) walking in spirit (ruach) and falsehood lies, "I will preach to you of wine and of strong drink," he would be the preacher of this people.
12I will surely gather, O Jacob, all of you; I will surely assemble the remnant of Israel; together I will set them like sheep of Bozrah, like a flock in the midst of its pasture; they shall make a noise from men (adam).
13The breaker has gone up before them; they have broken through and passed the gate, and gone out by it; and their king has passed on before them, and YHWH at their head.
