1To man (adam) belong the arrangements of the heart, but from YHWH is the answer of the tongue.
2All the ways of a man (ish) are pure in his own eyes, but YHWH weighs the spirits (ruach).
3Roll your works to YHWH, and your thoughts shall be established.
4YHWH has made everything for its own purpose, and even the wicked for the day of evil.
5Every one proud of heart is an abomination to YHWH; hand to hand, he shall not go unpunished.
6By lovingkindness and truth iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of YHWH one departs from evil.
7When YHWH is pleased with the ways of a man (ish), even his enemies he makes to be at peace with him.
8Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without judgment (mishpat).
9The heart of man (adam) devises his way, but YHWH establishes his step.
10An oracle is upon the lips of a king; in judgment (mishpat) his mouth does not transgress.
11A balance and scales of judgment (mishpat) are YHWH's; all the weights of the bag are his work.
12It is an abomination to kings to do wickedness, for by righteousness a throne is established.
13The delight of kings is righteous lips, and he who speaks upright things they love.
14The wrath of a king is messengers of death, but a wise man (ish) will appease it.
15In the light of a king's face is life (chai), and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain.
16To get wisdom—how much better than fine gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.
17The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; he who guards his way preserves his soul (nephesh).
18Before destruction is pride, and before a fall is loftiness of spirit (ruach).
19Better is the lowly of spirit (ruach) with the humble than to divide spoil with the proud.
20He who gives heed to a matter shall find good, and he who trusts in YHWH—happy is he.
21The wise of heart shall be called discerning, and sweetness of lips increases learning.
22A fountain of life (chai) is understanding to its possessor, but the discipline of fools is folly.
23The heart of the wise makes his mouth prudent, and upon his lips it adds learning.
24Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul (nephesh) and healing to the bone.
25There is a way that is straight before a man (ish), but its end is the ways of death.
26The soul (nephesh) of the laborer labors for him, for his mouth urges him on.
27A worthless man (ish) digs up evil, and upon his lips is like a scorching fire.
28A man (ish) of perversities sends forth strife, and one who separates parts a close friend.
29A man (ish) of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.
30He who shuts his eyes to devise perversities, who compresses his lips, has accomplished evil.
31A crown of glory is gray hair; in the way of righteousness it is found.
32Better is the slow to anger than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit (ruach) than he who captures a city.
33Into the lap the lot is cast, but from YHWH is all its judgment (mishpat).
