1The wicked flee with none pursuing, but the righteous are confident as a young lion.
2In the transgression of a land its princes are many, but by a man (adam) of understanding and knowledge it is so prolonged.
3A poor man oppressing the weak is a sweeping rain with no bread.
4Those who forsake Torah praise the wicked, but those who keep Torah contend with them.
5Men (ish) of evil do not understand judgment (mishpat), but those who seek YHWH understand all.
6Better is a poor man walking in his integrity than one perverse of ways, though he is rich.
7He who keeps Torah is an understanding son, but a companion of gluttons shames his father.
8He who increases his wealth by interest and increase gathers it for one gracious to the poor.
9He who turns away his ear from hearing Torah, even his prayer is an abomination.
10He who leads the upright astray into an evil way, he himself shall fall into his own pit, but the blameless shall inherit good.
11A rich man (ish) is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man of understanding searches him out.
12When the righteous exult, great is the glory, but when the wicked rise, man (adam) is sought out.
13He who covers his transgressions shall not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes shall obtain mercy.
14Happy is the man (adam) who fears continually, but he who hardens his heart shall fall into evil.
15A roaring lion and a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.
16A prince lacking understanding and great of oppressions; he who hates unjust gain shall prolong his days.
17A man (adam) burdened by the blood of a soul (nephesh) shall flee to the pit; let none support him.
18He who walks blamelessly shall be saved (yasha), but he who is perverse of ways shall fall at once.
19He who works (avad) his ground (adamah) shall be satisfied with bread, but he who pursues empty things shall be satisfied with poverty.
20A man (ish) of faithfulness abounds in blessings, but he who hastens to be rich shall not go unpunished.
21To regard persons is not good, yet for a piece of bread a man will transgress.
22A man (ish) of an evil eye hastens after wealth, and does not know that want shall come upon him.
23He who rebukes a man (adam) afterward shall find favor, more than one who flatters with the tongue.
24He who robs his father and his mother and says, "It is no transgression," he is a companion to a man (ish) who destroys.
25He who is greedy of soul (nephesh) stirs up strife, but he who trusts in YHWH shall be made fat.
26He who trusts in his own heart, he is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom, he shall escape.
27He who gives to the poor, there is no lack, but he who hides his eyes has many curses.
28When the wicked rise, man (adam) hides himself, but when they perish, the righteous increase.
