1Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out her seven pillars.
2She has slaughtered her slaughter, she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table.
3She has sent forth her maidens; she calls upon the heights of the high places of the city:
4"Whoever is simple, let him turn in here." To him who lacks heart she says,
5"Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine I have mixed.
6Forsake simpleness, and live, and walk straight in the way of understanding."
7One who corrects a scorner takes to himself shame, and one who reproves a wicked one—his own blemish.
8Do not reprove a scorner, lest he hate you; reprove a wise one, and he will love you.
9Give to a wise one, and he will be yet wiser; teach a righteous one, and he will increase in learning.
10The beginning of wisdom is the fear of YHWH, and the knowledge of the Holy Ones is understanding.
11For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life (chai) will be added to you.
12If you are wise, you are wise for yourself; and if you scorn, you alone will bear it.
13The woman (ishah) of folly is boisterous, simpleness itself, and she knows nothing.
14And she sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15To call to those passing by the way, who go straight on their paths:
16"Whoever is simple, let him turn in here." And to him who lacks heart she says,
17"Stolen waters are sweet, and bread of secret places is pleasant."
18And he does not know that the shades are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
