Give thanks to YHWH, for he is good, for his lovingkindness is forever.
Let the redeemed of YHWH say so, whom he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
and gathered them from the lands, from east and from west, from north and from the sea.
They wandered in the wilderness, in a desert of a way; a city of dwelling they did not find.
Hungry, also thirsty, their soul (nephesh) fainted within them.
And they cried out to YHWH in their distress; from their straits he delivered them.
And he led them by a straight way, to go to a city of dwelling.
Let them give thanks to YHWH for his lovingkindness, and for his wonders to the sons of man (adam).
For he satisfied the longing soul (nephesh), and the hungry soul (nephesh) he filled with good.
Those sitting in darkness and the shadow of death, prisoners of affliction and iron,
because they rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High (Elyon).
And he humbled their heart with toil; they stumbled, and there was no helper.
And they cried out to YHWH in their distress; from their straits he saved them (yasha).
He brought them out from darkness and the shadow of death, and tore apart their bonds.
Let them give thanks to YHWH for his lovingkindness, and for his wonders to the sons of man (adam).
For he broke the doors of bronze, and cut down the bars of iron.
Fools, because of the way of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted.
All food their soul (nephesh) abhorred, and they reached to the gates of death.
And they cried out to YHWH in their distress; from their straits he saved them (yasha).
He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their pits.
Let them give thanks to YHWH for his lovingkindness, and for his wonders to the sons of man (adam).
And let them sacrifice sacrifices of thanksgiving, and recount his works with singing.
Those going down to the sea in ships, doing work in great waters,
they saw the works of YHWH, and his wonders in the deep.
And he spoke, and raised up a spirit (ruach) of storm, and it lifted up its waves.
They go up to the heavens, they go down to the depths; their soul (nephesh) melts away in evil.
They reel and stagger like the drunkard, and all their wisdom is swallowed up.
And they cried out to YHWH in their distress, and from their straits he brought them out.
He made the storm into a whisper, and their waves were hushed.
And they rejoiced because they were quiet, and he led them to the haven of their desire.
Let them give thanks to YHWH for his lovingkindness, and for his wonders to the sons of man (adam).
And let them exalt him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the seat of the elders.
He turns rivers into a wilderness, and springs of water into thirsty ground;
a land of fruit into a salt-waste, for the evil of those dwelling in it.
He turns a wilderness into a pool of water, and a dry land into springs of water.
And he settles the hungry there, and they establish a city of dwelling.
And they sow fields and plant vineyards, and they make fruit of produce.
And he blesses them, and they multiply greatly, and he does not let their cattle diminish.
And they are diminished and bowed down, through the oppression of evil and sorrow.
He pours contempt upon nobles, and makes them wander in a waste with no way.
And he sets the needy on high from affliction, and makes families like a flock.
The upright see and rejoice, and all iniquity shuts its mouth.
Who is wise and will keep these things, and will consider the lovingkindnesses of YHWH?
