1A Song of the Ascents, of David. I rejoiced in those saying to me, "To the house of YHWH let us go."
2Our feet were standing within your gates, Jerusalem.
3Jerusalem, the one built like a city that is joined together for itself;
4where the tribes went up, the tribes of Yah, a testimony (edut) for Israel, to give thanks to the name of YHWH.
5For there sat thrones for judgment (mishpat), thrones for the house of David.
6Ask for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you prosper.
7May there be peace within your rampart, ease within your palaces.
8For the sake of my brothers and my companions, let me speak now, "Peace be within you."
9For the sake of the house of YHWH our God, I will seek good for you.
