1A Song of the Ascents. To You I have lifted up my eyes, You who sit enthroned in the heavens.
2Behold, as the eyes of servants to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so are our eyes to YHWH our God, until He is gracious to us.
3Be gracious to us, YHWH, be gracious to us, for greatly are we sated with contempt.
4Greatly has our soul (nephesh) been sated with the mocking of those at ease, with the contempt of the proud.
