A psalm of David. YHWH, hear my prayer; give ear to my supplications; in your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness.
And do not enter into judgment (mishpat) with your servant; for before you no one living (chai) shall be justified.
For the enemy has pursued my soul (nephesh); he has crushed my life (chai) to the ground; he has made me dwell in dark places, like those dead of old.
And my spirit (ruach) faints upon me; within me my heart is desolate.
I remembered days from of old; I meditated on all your work; on the deed of your hands I muse.
I spread out my hands to you; my soul (nephesh) is like a weary land toward you. Selah.
Hurry, answer me, YHWH; my spirit (ruach) fails; do not hide your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit.
Cause me to hear in the morning your kindness, for in you I have trusted; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for to you I have lifted up my soul (nephesh).
Deliver me from my enemies, YHWH; in you I have hidden.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; let your good spirit (ruach) lead me in a level land.
For the sake of your name, YHWH, give me life; in your righteousness bring my soul (nephesh) out of distress.
And in your kindness cut off my enemies, and destroy all the adversaries of my soul (nephesh); for I am your servant.
