God of vengeance, YHWH; God of vengeance, shine forth!
Lift yourself up, Judge of the earth; render recompense to the proud.
Until when shall the wicked, YHWH, until when shall the wicked exult?
They pour out, they speak arrogance; all the workers of iniquity boast themselves.
They crush your people, YHWH, and afflict your inheritance.
They slay the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless.
And they say, "Yah does not see, and the God of Jacob does not regard it."
Understand, you brutish among the people; and you fools, when will you be wise?
He who planted the ear, shall he not hear? Or he who formed the eye, shall he not see?
He who chastises the nations, shall he not correct? He who teaches man (adam) knowledge?
YHWH knows the thoughts of man (adam), that they are a breath.
Blessed is the man whom you chasten, Yah, and whom you teach out of your Torah,
to give him rest from the days of evil, until a pit is dug for the wicked.
For YHWH will not cast off his people, and his inheritance he will not forsake.
For judgment (mishpat) shall return to righteousness, and after it all the upright in heart.
Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand for me against the workers of iniquity?
Unless YHWH had been a help for me, my soul (nephesh) had almost dwelt in silence.
If I said, "My foot slips," your lovingkindness, YHWH, holds me up.
In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul (nephesh).
Shall the throne of destruction be joined to you, that frames mischief by statute (choq)?
They band together against the soul (nephesh) of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.
But YHWH has been my high tower, and my God the rock of my refuge.
And he has brought back upon them their iniquity, and in their evil he will cut them off; YHWH our God will cut them off.
