And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year of the going out of the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, of Solomon's reigning over Israel, that he built the house for YHWH.
And the house which king Solomon built for YHWH, sixty cubits was its length, and twenty its breadth, and thirty cubits its height.
And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was its length, across the breadth of the house, and ten cubits its breadth before the house.
And for the house he made windows with recessed frames, narrowing.
And against the wall of the house he built a side-structure round about, against the walls of the house round about, for the temple and for the oracle; and he made side-chambers round about.
The lowest side-structure was five cubits in its breadth, and the middle six cubits in its breadth, and the third seven cubits in its breadth; for he gave offsets to the house round about on the outside, so as not to take hold in the walls of the house.
And the house, when it was built, was built of whole stone made ready at the quarry; and hammers and the axe, any tool of iron, was not heard in the house when it was built.
The opening of the middle side-chamber was at the right shoulder of the house; and by winding stairs they would go up to the middle one, and from the middle to the third.
And he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and panels of cedar.
And he built the side-structure against all the house, five cubits its height; and it held fast to the house with timbers of cedar.
And the word of YHWH came to Solomon, saying:
"This house which you are building—if you walk in my statutes (chuqqot), and do my judgments (mishpat), and keep all my commandments (mitzvot) to walk in them, then I will establish my word with you which I spoke to David your father;
and I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel."
And Solomon built the house and finished it.
And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling he overlaid them with wood within; and he overlaid the floor of the house with boards of cypress.
And he built twenty cubits from the rear of the house with boards of cedar, from the floor to the walls; and he built it for himself within, for an oracle, for the Holy of Holies.
And forty cubits was the house, that is, the temple in front.
And the cedar on the house within was carving of gourds and open flowers; all was cedar, no stone was seen.
And an oracle in the midst of the house within he prepared, to set there the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH.
And before the oracle—twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits its height—and he overlaid it with pure gold; and he overlaid an altar of cedar.
And Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold; and he drew across chains of gold before the oracle, and he overlaid it with gold.
And the whole house he overlaid with gold until all the house was finished; and also the whole altar that belonged to the oracle he overlaid with gold.
And he made in the oracle two cherubim of olive wood, ten cubits its height.
And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the second wing of the cherub; ten cubits from the ends of its wings to the ends of its wings.
And ten in the cubit was the second cherub; one measure and one form for the two cherubim.
The height of the one cherub was ten in the cubit, and so the second cherub.
And he set the cherubim in the midst of the inner house; and they spread out the wings of the cherubim, and the wing of the one touched the wall, and the wing of the second cherub touched the second wall; and their wings toward the midst of the house touched wing to wing.
And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.
And all the walls of the house round about he carved with carved engravings of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.
And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.
And the entrance of the oracle he made doors of olive wood; the lintel and the doorposts were a fifth.
And the two doors of olive wood—he carved on them carvings of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold upon the cherubim and upon the palm trees.
And so he made for the entrance of the temple doorposts of olive wood, foursquare;
and two doors of cypress wood; the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the second door folding.
And he carved cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold fitted upon the engraved work.
And he built the inner court—three rows of hewn stone and a row of cut cedar beams.
In the fourth year was the house of YHWH founded, in the month of Ziv.
And in the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished in all its matters and according to all its judgments (mishpat); and he built it seven years.
