2 Kings 2

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

1And it came to pass, when YHWH would take up Elijah in the whirlwind to the heavens, that Elijah went, and Elisha, from Gilgal.

2And Elijah said to Elisha, "Sit here, please, for YHWH has sent me as far as Bethel." And Elisha said, "As YHWH lives (chai) and as your soul (nephesh) lives (chai), I will not leave you." And they went down to Bethel.

3And the sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said to him, "Do you know that today YHWH is taking your master from over your head?" And he said, "I also know it; be silent."

4And Elijah said to him, "Elisha, sit here, please, for YHWH has sent me to Jericho." And he said, "As YHWH lives (chai) and as your soul (nephesh) lives (chai), I will not leave you." And they came to Jericho.

5And the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho drew near to Elisha, and said to him, "Do you know that today YHWH is taking your master from over your head?" And he said, "I also know it; be silent."

6And Elijah said to him, "Sit here, please, for YHWH has sent me to the Jordan." And he said, "As YHWH lives (chai) and as your soul (nephesh) lives (chai), I will not leave you." And the two of them went on.

7And fifty men (ish) of the sons of the prophets went and stood opposite, afar off; and the two of them stood by the Jordan.

8And Elijah took his mantle and wrapped it together and struck the waters, and they were divided here and there, and the two of them passed over on dry ground.

9And it came to pass, when they had passed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from you." And Elisha said, "Let there be, please, a double portion of your spirit (ruach) upon me."

10And he said, "You have asked a hard thing; if you see me being taken from you, it shall be so to you, but if not, it shall not be."

11And it came to pass, as they went on, going and speaking, that behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire, and they separated between the two of them; and Elijah went up in the whirlwind to the heavens.

12And Elisha was seeing it, and he was crying out, "My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!" And he saw him no more. And he took hold of his clothes and tore them in two pieces.

13And he took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from upon him, and returned and stood by the bank of the Jordan.

14And he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from upon him and struck the waters, and said, "Where is YHWH, the God of Elijah, even He?" And he struck the waters, and they were divided here and there, and Elisha passed over.

15And the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho saw him opposite, and they said, "The spirit (ruach) of Elijah rests upon Elisha." And they came to meet him and bowed down to him to the ground.

16And they said to him, "Behold now, there are with your servants fifty men (ish), sons of valor; let them go, please, and seek your master, lest the spirit (ruach) of YHWH has taken him up and cast him on one of the mountains or in one of the valleys." And he said, "You shall not send."

17And they urged him until he was ashamed, and he said, "Send." And they sent fifty men (ish), and they sought three days but did not find him.

18And they returned to him, while he was staying at Jericho, and he said to them, "Did I not say to you, Do not go?"

19And the men (ish) of the city said to Elisha, "Behold, please, the dwelling of the city is good, as my lord sees, but the waters are bad and the land miscarries."

20And he said, "Bring me a new cruse, and put salt there." And they brought it to him.

21And he went forth to the spring of the waters and cast salt there, and said, "Thus says YHWH: I have healed these waters; there shall not be from there any more death or miscarrying."

22And the waters were healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.

23And he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, little lads came forth from the city and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, baldhead! Go up, baldhead!"

24And he turned behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of YHWH. And two she-bears came forth from the forest and tore forty-two children of them.

25And he went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
