And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying:
"Speak to the sons of Israel, that they turn back and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal-zephon; opposite it you shall encamp by the sea.
And Pharaoh will say of the sons of Israel, 'They are entangled in the land, the wilderness has shut them in.'
And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue after them; and I will be honored through Pharaoh and through all his army, and the Egyptians shall know that I am YHWH." And they did so.
And it was told to the king of Egypt that the people had fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the people, and they said, "What is this we have done, that we have sent Israel away from serving (avad) us?"
And he harnessed his chariot, and took his people with him.
And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and officers over all of them.
And YHWH hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the sons of Israel; and the sons of Israel were going out with a high hand.
And the Egyptians pursued after them, and overtook them encamping by the sea, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.
And Pharaoh drew near; and the sons of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were journeying after them; and they were very afraid, and the sons of Israel cried out to YHWH.
And they said to Moses, "Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us to die in the wilderness? What is this you have done to us, to bring us out from Egypt?
Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, 'Cease from us, that we may serve (avad) the Egyptians'? For it is better for us to serve (avad) the Egyptians than for us to die in the wilderness."
And Moses said to the people, "Do not fear; stand firm, and see the salvation (yeshuah) of YHWH, which he will work for you today; for as you have seen the Egyptians today, you shall not see them again any more, forever.
YHWH will fight for you, and you shall be silent."
And YHWH said to Moses, "Why do you cry out to me? Speak to the sons of Israel, that they journey forward.
And you, lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and split it; and the sons of Israel shall go into the midst of the sea on dry ground.
And I, behold, I am hardening the heart of the Egyptians, and they will go in after them; and I will be honored through Pharaoh and through all his army, through his chariots and through his horsemen.
And the Egyptians shall know that I am YHWH, when I am honored through Pharaoh, through his chariots and through his horsemen."
And the angel of God, who was going before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud removed from before them and stood behind them.
And it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet it lit up the night; and the one did not come near the other all the night.
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and YHWH caused the sea to go by a strong spirit (ruach) of the east all the night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were split.
And the sons of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground; and the waters were a wall to them on their right and on their left.
And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen, into the midst of the sea.
And it came to pass in the morning watch, that YHWH looked down upon the camp of Egypt in the pillar of fire and cloud, and confused the camp of Egypt.
And he removed the wheels of their chariots, and made them drive with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, "Let me flee from before Israel, for YHWH fights for them against Egypt."
And YHWH said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may return upon Egypt, upon its chariots and upon its horsemen."
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength toward the turning of morning; and the Egyptians were fleeing to meet it, and YHWH shook off the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
And the waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all the army of Pharaoh that came after them into the sea; there did not remain among them even one.
And the sons of Israel walked on the dry ground in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall to them on their right and on their left.
And YHWH saved (yasha) Israel on that day from the hand of Egypt; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the shore of the sea.
And Israel saw the great hand which YHWH did against Egypt; and the people feared YHWH, and they believed in YHWH and in Moses his servant.
