1And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
2"Son of man (adam), set your face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them,
3and say, 'Mountains of Israel, hear the word of my Lord (Adonai) YHWH. Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys: Behold, I—I am bringing upon you a sword, and I will destroy your high places.
4And your altars shall be desolate, and your sun-pillars shall be broken; and I will cast down your slain before your idols.
5And I will lay the corpses of the sons of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars.
6In all your dwelling-places the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; so that your altars may be laid waste and bear guilt, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your sun-pillars be hewn down, and your works be blotted out.
7And the slain shall fall in your midst, and you shall know that I am YHWH.
8And I will leave a remnant, in that you shall have those who escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered among the lands.
9And those of you who escape shall remember me among the nations where they are taken captive, how I was broken by their adulterous heart that turned away from me, and by their eyes that go whoring after their idols; and they shall loathe themselves to their own faces for the evils that they did in all their abominations.
10And they shall know that I am YHWH; not in vain did I speak to do to them this evil.'
11Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: "Strike with your palm and stamp with your foot, and say, 'Alas!' for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel; for by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence they shall fall.
12He who is far off shall die by the pestilence, and he who is near shall fall by the sword; and he who remains and is besieged shall die by the famine; and I will complete my fury upon them.
13And you shall know that I am YHWH, when their slain are in the midst of their idols, round about their altars, upon every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, and under every leafy tree, and under every thick terebinth, the place where they gave a soothing aroma to all their idols.
14And I will stretch out my hand against them, and make the land a desolation and a waste, from the wilderness toward Diblah, in all their dwellings; and they shall know that I am YHWH."
