Job 38

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

And YHWH answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:

"Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?

Gird up now your loins like a man, and I will ask you, and you make known to me.

Where were you when I founded the earth? Declare, if you know understanding.

Who set its measures, for you know? Or who stretched the line upon it?

On what were its bases sunk? Or who cast its cornerstone,

when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

And who shut up the sea with doors, when it burst forth, came out of the womb;

when I made the cloud its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band,

and I broke for it my statute (choq), and set a bar and doors,

and I said, 'To here you shall come, and no further; and here shall be set the pride of your waves'?

Have you, since your days began, commanded (tzivvah) the morning? Have you caused the dawn to know its place,

to take hold of the corners of the earth, that they might be shaken out of it?

It is changed like clay under a seal, and they stand forth like a garment.

And their light is withheld from them, and the uplifted arm is broken.

Have you come to the springs of the sea? Or in the recesses of the deep have you walked?

Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the gates of the shadow of death?

Have you understood the breadths of the earth? Declare, if you know it all.

Where is this, the way where light dwells? And darkness, where is its place,

that you should take it to its boundary, and that you should discern the paths to its house?

You know, for then you were born, and the number of your days is great!

Have you come to the treasuries of snow, or have you seen the treasuries of hail,

which I have held back for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war?

Where is this, the way by which the light is divided, or the east wind scattered over the earth?

Who has cleft a channel for the flood, and a way for the lightning of thunders,

to cause it to rain on a land with no man (ish), a wilderness with no man (adam) in it,

to satisfy the desolate and the waste, and to cause to sprout the going forth of grass?

Is there a father to the rain? Or who has begotten the drops of dew?

Out of whose womb came the ice? And the frost of heaven, who has borne it?

Like stone the waters hide themselves, and the face of the deep is frozen fast.

Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, or loose the cords of Orion?

Can you bring forth the constellations (Mazzaroth) in their season? And the Bear with her sons, can you guide them?

Do you know the statutes (chuqqot) of the heavens? Can you set its dominion in the earth?

Can you lift up your voice to the cloud, that an abundance of waters may cover you?

Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you, 'Here we are'?

Who has put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who has given understanding to the mind?

Who can number the clouds by wisdom? And the bottles of heaven, who can lay them down,

when the dust (aphar) pours into a mass, and the clods cleave together?

Will you hunt the prey for the lioness, and fill the appetite (chai) of the young lions,

when they crouch in their dens, when they sit in the thicket for ambush?

Who prepares for the raven its food, when its young cry to God, and wander about for lack of food?
