And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying:
"Make for yourself two trumpets of silver; of beaten work you shall make them; and they shall be for you for the calling of the congregation and for the setting forward of the camps.
And when they blow with them, all the congregation shall gather to you at the entrance of the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed).
And if they blow with one, then the princes, the heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather to you.
And when you blow an alarm, the camps that encamp eastward shall journey.
And when you blow an alarm a second time, the camps that encamp southward shall journey; an alarm they shall blow for their journeys.
But in assembling the assembly, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm.
And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for a statute (chuqqah) forever throughout your generations.
And when you go to war in your land against the adversary who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you shall be remembered before YHWH your God, and you shall be saved (yasha) from your enemies.
And in the day of your gladness, and in your appointed times (moadim), and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt-offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; and they shall be to you for a memorial before your God: I am YHWH your God."
And it came to pass in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth of the month, that the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle (mishkan) of the testimony (edut).

And Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, the father-in-law of Moses: "We are journeying to the place of which YHWH said, 'I will give it to you'; come with us, and we will do good to you, for YHWH has spoken good concerning Israel."
And he said to him: "I will not go, but to my land and to my kindred I will go."
And he said: "Do not, please, leave us; because you know our encamping in the wilderness, and you shall be to us for eyes.
And it shall be, if you go with us, then it shall be that the good which YHWH does to us, the same we will do to you."
And they journeyed from the mountain of YHWH a journey of three days; and the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH journeyed before them a journey of three days, to seek out a resting place for them.
And the cloud of YHWH was over them by day, when they set forward from the camp.
And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said: "Rise up, YHWH, and let Your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee before You."
And when it rested, he said: "Return, YHWH, to the myriads of the thousands of Israel."
