To the leader, a psalm of David.
Blessed is he who considers the poor; in the day of evil YHWH will deliver him.
YHWH will guard him and keep him alive; he will be called blessed in the land; and do not give him over to the soul (nephesh) of his enemies.
YHWH will sustain him on the bed of languishing; all his lying-down you have turned in his sickness.
I said, "YHWH, be gracious to me; heal my soul (nephesh), for I have sinned against you."
My enemies speak evil of me: "When will he die, and his name perish?"
And if one comes to see me, he speaks falsehood; his heart gathers iniquity to itself; he goes outside, he speaks.
Together against me all those who hate me whisper; against me they devise evil for me.
"A worthless thing is poured out in him; and he who lies down will rise no more."
Even the man (ish) of my peace, in whom I trusted, who eats my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
But you, YHWH, be gracious to me and raise me up, that I may repay them.
By this I know that you delight in me: that my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.
And I, in my integrity, you have upheld me, and you set me before your face forever.
Blessed be YHWH, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
