Psalms 49

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

For the leader; of the sons of Korah, a Psalm.

Hear this, all you peoples; give ear, all inhabitants of the world.

Both the sons of man (adam) and the sons of man (ish), together, the rich and the needy.

My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.

I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will open my riddle upon the harp.

Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels surrounds me?

Those who trust in their wealth, and in the multitude of their riches boast themselves.

A brother no man (ish) can ever redeem, nor give to God his ransom —

and too costly is the redemption of their soul (nephesh), so it ceases forever —

that he should still live forever, that he should not see the pit.

For he sees that wise men die; together the fool and the brutish perish, and leave their wealth to others.

Their inward thought is that their houses are forever, their dwelling-places (mishkan) to generation and generation; they call by their names upon grounds (adamah).

But man (adam) in honor does not abide; he is likened to the beasts that perish.

This is their way, their folly; yet after them they take pleasure in their mouth. Selah.

Like sheep they are set for Sheol; death shall shepherd them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their form is for Sheol to consume, away from its dwelling.

But God will redeem my soul (nephesh) from the hand of Sheol, for he will take me. Selah.

Do not fear when a man (ish) becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases.

For in his death he takes nothing at all; his glory shall not descend after him.

Though in his life (chai) he blesses his soul (nephesh), and men praise you when you do well for yourself —

he shall come to the generation of his fathers; forevermore they shall not see the light.

Man (adam) in honor, yet does not understand; he is likened to the beasts that perish.
