1For the leader, concerning Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm.
2My voice to God, and I cry out; my voice to God, that he may give ear to me.
3In the day of my trouble I sought my Lord (Adonai); my hand by night was stretched out and did not grow slack; my soul (nephesh) refused to be comforted.
4I remember God, and I moan; I muse, and my spirit (ruach) faints. Selah.
5You held fast the watches of my eyes; I am troubled and cannot speak.
6I considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
7I remember my song in the night; with my heart I muse, and my spirit (ruach) makes diligent search.
8Will my Lord (Adonai) cast off forever, and never again be favorable?
9Has his lovingkindness ceased forever? Has his word come to an end for generation and generation?
10Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassions? Selah.
11And I said, "This is my grief: the years of the right hand of the Most High (Elyon)."
12I will remember the deeds of Yah; surely I will remember your wonder of old.
13And I will meditate on all your work, and on your deeds I will muse.
14O God, in the holy place is your way; who is a great god like God?
15You are the God who does wonder; you made known your strength among the peoples.
16You redeemed with your arm your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
17The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you, they writhed; the deeps also trembled.
18The clouds poured out water; the skies gave a voice; also your arrows went forth.
19The voice of your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightnings lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.
20In the sea was your way, and your path in many waters, and your footsteps were not known.
21You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
