A Psalm, of Asaph. God, nations have come into your inheritance; they have defiled the temple of your holiness; they have set Jerusalem as heaps.
They have given the corpses of your servants as food to the birds of the heavens, the flesh (basar) of your faithful ones to the living things (chai) of the earth.
They have poured out their blood like water round about Jerusalem, and there is none burying.
We have become a reproach to our neighbors, a mockery and derision to those around us.
Until when, YHWH? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire?
Pour out your wrath upon the nations that have not known you, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon your name;
for he has devoured Jacob, and laid waste his habitation.
Do not remember against us the iniquities of former ones; let your compassions swiftly come to meet us, for we are brought very low.
Help us, God of our salvation, for the sake of the glory of your name; and deliver us, and atone over our sins, for the sake of your name.
Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Let it be known among the nations, before our eyes, the avenging of the blood of your servants that is poured out.
Let the groaning of the prisoner come before you; according to the greatness of your arm preserve the sons of death.
And return to our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom their reproach with which they have reproached you, my Lord (Adonai).
And we, your people and the flock of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever; to generation and generation we will recount your praise.
