1테오파니 (Theophany, 신현 / 神顯)

어원 — Θεός (Theos, 하나님) + φαίνω (Phainein, 나타나다)
정의 — 초월적이신 하나님께서 인간의 감각(눈, 귀 등)으로 인식할 수 있는 형태로 당신의 임재와 영광을 드러내시는 현상.
구약의 형태 — 인격적 형상뿐만 아니라 불꽃, 구름, 바람, 반석 등 자연적·비인격적 매개체를 통해서도 나타남 (예: 가시떨기나무 불꽃, 광야의 구름 기둥과 반석).

직역모두 같은 프뉴마티콘(영적)인 음료를 마셨으니 — 이는 그들을 따르는 프뉴마티케(영적)인 바위에서 마셨기 때문이며, 그 바위는 메시아(그리스도)이셨다.

2크리스토파니 (Christophany, 그리스도의 현현)

어원 — Χριστός (Christos, 그리스도) + φαίνω (Phainein, 나타나다)
정의 — 성육신(Incarnation) 이전의 구약시대에 성자 하나님(Logos)께서 사람이나 천사의 형상으로 일시적으로 나타나신 사건.
특징 — 테오파니의 하위 개념으로, 구약의 '여호와의 사자'나 '여호와의 군대 대장'처럼 경배를 받으시며 스스로를 하나님으로 선언하는 인격적 현현을 의미함.

3인카네이션 (Incarnation, 성육신 / 成肉身)

어원 — 라틴어 Incarnatio (In: 안으로 + Caro/Carnis: 육신, "육신이 됨")
정의 — 영원하신 성자 하나님께서 일시적 현현을 넘어, 참 하나님이자 참 인간으로서 온전한 인간의 영과 혼과 육신을 영원히 취하신 구속사적 사건 (요한복음 1:14).
차이점 — 크리스토파니가 '일시적인 형상 취함'이었다면, 인카네이션은 '비가역적이고 영원한 인성의 결합'임.

요 1:14 · RP2018

Καὶ ὁ λόγος σὰρξ ἐγένετο, καὶ ἐσκήνωσεν ἐν ἡμῖν, καὶ ἐθεασάμεθα τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ, δόξαν ὡς μονογενοῦς παρὰ πατρός, πλήρης χάριτος καὶ ἀληθείας.

직역그리고 로고스(말씀이신 분)께서 사르크스(육체)가 되어 우리 가운데 장막을 치셨으니, 우리가 그분의 영광을 보았는데, 그것은 아버지로부터 오신 독생자의 영광으로, 하리스(은혜)와 알레데이아(진리)가 충만했다.

직역고백되는 것처럼 에우세베이아(경건함)의 뮈스테리온(신비/비밀)은 크니, 그분은 사르크스(육체) 안에서 나타나셨고, 프뉴마(영) 안에서 의롭게 되셨으며, 천사들에게 보이셨고, 이방인들 가운데서 선포되셨으며, 세상에서 믿어지셨고, 영광 가운데서 올리워지셨다.

4휴밀리에이션 (Humiliation of Christ, 비하 / 낮아지심)

어원 — 라틴어 Humiliatio (낮아짐, 겸손)
정의 — 신적 영광을 지니신 성자께서 인간 구원을 위해 자신을 낮추사, 인간의 한계와 고통, 율법 아래 복종하시고 십자가의 죽음에까지 이르신 상태 (빌립보서 2:6~8).
적용 — 지상 사역 중 예수께서 성부 하나님의 말씀과 뜻에 철저히 순종하며 사역하신 원동력이 됨 (요한복음 14:24).

빌 2:7-8 · RP2018

ἀλλ’ ἑαυτὸν ἐκένωσεν, μορφὴν δούλου λαβών, ἐν ὁμοιώματι ἀνθρώπων γενόμενος· καὶ σχήματι εὑρεθεὶς ὡς ἄνθρωπος, ἐταπείνωσεν ἑαυτόν, γενόμενος ὑπήκοος μέχρι θανάτου, θανάτου δὲ σταυροῦ.

직역(7) 오히려 자신을 비우셨으니, 종의 모르페(본질적 모습)를 취하사 사람들과 같은 형태로 되셔서, (8) 사람으로서의 스케마티(외형)로 발견되사 자신을 낮추시고 죽기까지, 곧 십자가의 죽기까지 순종하셨다.

5이코노믹 트리니티 (Economic Trinity, 경륜적 삼위일체)

어원 — Greek Oikonomia (경륜, 행정, 구속 계획) + Trinity (삼위일체)
정의 — 삼위일체 하나님께서 세상을 창조하고 구원하시는 '구속사적 역할'에 있어 나타나는 삼위 간의 관계.
구조 — 본질과 영광에서는 삼위가 완전 동등하시나(본질적 삼위일체), 구원 사역의 실행에 있어서는 성부(계획/보내심) → 성자(순종/성취) → 성령(적용/임재)의 순서로 일하심.

요 6:38 · RP2018

Ὅτι καταβέβηκα ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, οὐχ ἵνα ποιῶ τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμόν, ἀλλὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με.

직역이는 내가 하늘에서 내려온 것은 내 텔레마(뜻)를 행하려는 것이 아니라, 나를 보내신 분의 텔레마(뜻)를 행하려는 것이기 때문이다.

요 15:26 · RP2018

Ὅταν δὲ ἔλθῃ ὁ παράκλητος, ὃν ἐγὼ πέμψω ὑμῖν παρὰ τοῦ πατρός, τὸ πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας, ὃ παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς ἐκπορεύεται, ἐκεῖνος μαρτυρήσει περὶ ἐμοῦ.

직역그러나 내가 아버지께로부터 너희에게 보낼 파라클레토스(옆에 오셔서 부르시는 분), 곧 아버지께로부터 나오시는 알레데이아(진리)의 프뉴마(영)가 오시면, 그분이 나에 대하여 증언하실 것이다.

핵심 신학적 흐름 요약

보이지 않으시는 하나님은 구약에서 테오파니(특히 크리스토파니)를 통해 당신을 차츰 계시하셨고, 신약에 이르러 성자가 직접 인간이 되시는 인카네이션을 이루셨습니다. 성육신하신 그리스도는 휴밀리에이션을 통해 자발적으로 낮아지셨으며, 경륜적 삼위일체의 원리에 따라 성부의 뜻에 완벽히 순종하심으로 구원을 완수하셨습니다.

1Theophany

Etymology — Θεός (Theos, God) + φαίνω (Phainein, to appear)
Definition — the transcendent God making His presence and glory perceptible in a form the human senses (sight, hearing) can take in.
Old Testament forms — not only a personal figure but also flame, cloud, wind and rock: impersonal media (the burning bush, the pillar of cloud and the rock in the wilderness).

LiteralAnd the angel of YHWH appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of the bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.

2Christophany

Etymology — Χριστός (Christos, Christ) + φαίνω (Phainein, to appear)
Definition — an event in which God the Son (the Logos) appeared temporarily, before the incarnation, in the form of a man or a messenger.
Character — a subset of theophany: a personal appearing that receives worship and declares itself to be God, as with "the messenger of YHWH" and "the commander of the army of YHWH."

Gen 31:11-13 · OSHB v2.2

Literal(11) And the messenger of God said to me in the dream, 'Jacob,' and I said, 'Here I am.' (12) And he said, 'Lift up now your eyes and see: all the he-goats going up upon the flock are streaked, speckled, and grizzled; for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you. 3The Incarnation

Etymology — Latin incarnatio (in- "into" + caro/carnis "flesh": to be made flesh)
Definition — the eternal Son of God going beyond a temporary appearing to take a complete human spirit, soul and body permanently, as true God and true man (John 1:14).
Difference — a Christophany was a form taken for a time; the incarnation is an irreversible and everlasting union with human nature.

LiteralAnd the logos(Word) became sarx(flesh) and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory — glory as of the only-begotten from the Father — full of charis(grace) and aletheia(truth).

4The Humiliation of Christ

Etymology — Latin humiliatio (a lowering, humbling)
Definition — the Son, who holds divine glory, lowering Himself for the salvation of men: submitting to human limitation and suffering, placing Himself under the law, and going as far as death on a cross (Philippians 2:6~8).
Bearing — this is what carried His earthly ministry, in which He obeyed the word and the will of the Father throughout (John 14:24).

Php 2:7-8 · RP2018

Literal(7) but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. (8) Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a stauros(cross).

Joh 14:24 · RP2018

LiteralHe who does not agapao(love) Me does not keep My logos(words); and the logos(word) which you hear is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me.

5The Economic Trinity

Etymology — Greek oikonomia (administration, ordered plan) + Trinity
Definition — the relation among the three Persons as it appears in their redemptive roles in creating and saving the world.
Structure — in essence and glory the three are fully equal (the immanent Trinity); in carrying out salvation they work in order — the Father (plan, sending) → the Son (obedience, accomplishment) → the Spirit (application, presence).

Joh 6:38 · RP2018

Ὅτι καταβέβηκα ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, οὐχ ἵνα ποιῶ τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμόν, ἀλλὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με.

The line of it, in short

The invisible God revealed Himself in the Old Testament by degrees through theophany, and in particular through Christophany. In the New Testament the Son Himself became man: the incarnation. The incarnate Christ then lowered Himself willingly — the humiliation — and, according to the order of the economic Trinity, completed salvation by obeying the will of the Father perfectly.
