Galatians 6

Yeshuah Literal Translation with Commentary

Literal Translation and Commentary: Galatians 6:1 ~ 18

6:1 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person with a gentle spirit. But watch yourselves, lest you also be tempted.
6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.
6:3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
6:4 Each one should examine his own work, and then he will have reason to boast in himself alone, and not in someone else.
6:5 For each one will bear his own load.
6:6 The one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches.
6:7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked. Whatever a person sows, that is what he will also reap.
6:8 Whoever sows to please the flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but whoever sows to please the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
6:9 Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of faith.
6:11 See what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand.
6:12 Those who want to make a good impression outwardly are the ones who try to compel you to be circumcised—only so they may avoid persecution for the cross of Christ.
6:13 For even those who are circumcised do not keep the law themselves, but they want you to be circumcised so they may boast in your flesh.
6:14 But as for me, may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
6:15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what matters is being a new creation.
6:16 Peace and mercy be upon all who follow this rule, and upon the Israel of God.
6:17 From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.
6:18 Brothers, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Commentary

1️⃣ Loving the Law and Moving Toward Its Fulfillment

Galatians 6 serves as a strong refutation of the misunderstanding that Paul was teaching believers to abandon the Law. Instead, he affirms that we must love the Law that God has fulfilled in Christ and move toward its true fulfillment.

📖 Verse 2: Fulfill the Law of Christ
Paul explains that carrying each other’s burdens is how believers fulfill the law of Christ. The "law of Christ" refers to living out the essence of the Law through love. This does not mean disregarding or nullifying the Law but rather fulfilling its true purpose through love and service.

📖 Verses 9–10: Do Good Without Growing Weary
Paul encourages believers not to become weary in doing good, for they will reap a harvest in due time. "As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of faith." This directly aligns with the core message of the Law, which emphasizes loving one’s neighbor and living righteously before God.

📖 Verse 14: Boasting in the Cross
Paul declares that he has nothing to boast in except the cross of Christ. This statement rejects religious pride and self-righteousness, emphasizing that the fulfillment of the Law is accomplished through Christ’s work on the cross.

2️⃣ Paul’s Final Exhortation to the Galatians and Its Relevance Today

The Galatian church faced intense division and theological confusion. Paul’s final exhortation calls them to unity, humility, and true obedience to God’s Word.

Overcoming False Teachings
Just as the Galatians were misled by those advocating circumcision for justification, modern believers must be cautious of doctrines that distort the Gospel. True righteousness is found not in external rituals defined by man-made religious doctrine but in being transformed into a new creation in Christ.

Carrying One Another’s Burdens
Paul’s teaching is a call to communal responsibility. In a world that prioritizes individualism, the biblical model of faith emphasizes supporting fellow believers, sharing burdens, and striving together toward righteousness.

Walking in the Spirit and Fulfilling the Law
Ultimately, Galatians 6 teaches that the Christian life is about living by the Spirit, loving God’s commandments, and growing into the holiness that Christ enables us to attain. This is not about rejecting the Law but about seeing it fulfilled in the believer’s daily walk.

Conclusion

Galatians 6:24-26 emphasizes that believers must crucify their sinful nature, walk in step with the Spirit, and bear the fruit of righteousness. The early believers, even under persecution, lived out their faith with unwavering commitment. Today, we are called to the same dedication—to walk in the Spirit, to love God’s Word, and to bear witness to Christ through our lives.

📖 Romans 12:1 (Yeshuah Literal Translation)
"Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."

Just as the early church stood firm in faith, we too must commit to living in obedience to God, manifesting His righteousness in our daily lives. This is the path to truly inheriting the kingdom of God. 🚩
