Rooster Will Crow Tonight

Matthew 26:34 Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, during this night, before the rooster crowing, you will deny Me three times."

Mark 14:30 And Jesus says to him, "Truly I say to you that now this night, before that the rooster crows twice, you yourself will deny Me three times."

Luke 22:34 And He said, "I tell you Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you will deny three times knowing Me."

John 13:38 Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow until you will deny Me three times.

Understanding Biblical and Modern Concepts of Time

In the Bible, a day begins in the evening. However, modern people recognize the date change at midnight. For instance, people today say the rooster will crow tomorrow morning. But during the Last Supper, Jesus told Peter that the rooster would crow tonight, even though it was after their evening meal. Roosters typically crow before dawn, while it's still dark. Thus, the Koine New Testament, especially when referring to feasts of the Lord follows the time concepts recorded in the Torah.
