Exodus 12

Reading Exodus chapter 12, understanding the specific times and corresponding dates is critically important. Verse 2 marks the beginning of the first month. Verse 3 instructs that on the 10th day, a lamb should be taken, not that this is the day to go out and find one; by the 10th day, the lamb should already have been procured. It must then be meticulously cared for over four days—10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th—if any blemish is found during this period, the lamb must be replaced.

For this reason, Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem on the afternoon of the 9th of Aviv and went into the temple. This timing is significant as it aligns with the preparations leading up to Passover, allowing Jesus to fulfill the prophetic actions and symbolisms associated with the lamb of Passover.

Verse 6 records that by the evening of the 14th, all preparations must be complete, and the lamb is offered as a burnt offering to the Lord. To present the burnt offering on the evening of the 14th, all preparation steps, including slaughtering the lamb, skinning, and preparing the wood, must be completed by the afternoon of the 13th. After the afternoon of the 13th, it becomes the evening of the 14th. Late in the afternoon of the 13th, as the sun begins to dip below the horizon, the sky is tinted with the colors of sunset. Even after the sun sets and it becomes the 14th, the sky still shows traces of sunset. This time is precisely described as (Bein Haarbaym) 'between the evenings'.

The latter part of Exodus 12:6, when translated directly without conforming to typical English grammar, reads: "and-they-offer / him / all-of / assembly-of / congregation-of / Israel / between / the-evenings." Analyzing this text rationally and calmly, it becomes clear that the interpretation that the entire assembly of the congregation of Israel collectively slayed him(masculine singular form) does not fit the context. The correct interpretation is that they "offered" him.

The process of Passover is accurately and detailedly described in Chronicles 35. Up to verse 15, it describes the preparations involving the sacrifice of the offerings. Crucially, verse 35:16 precisely testifies that after all preparations were done, the offerings were made as burnt offerings to the Lord God.
